What is the name of the Current Novel you are reading?
           Go Ask Alice

What is the "basic idea" of the story (min 3 paragraphs) - please remember i have not read the story , provide me with a basic understanding of the novel.
Go Ask Alice is a true story told through a girls diary from the 70's. She writes about her life; her life of drugs, broken friendships and broken family.
Her diary is a first account of how difficult a life with drugs could be. Her first trip was at a party, where during a game of "button button, whose got the button?" she consumed LSD. After that she couldnt stop thinking about drugs. She tried acid, weed, coke, meth, heroine, and more. "Once you've had them, theres no life without drugs."
She eventually runs away from home with her friend Chris and they open up thier own jewlery shop. However, as the holiday season approached, they felt lonely without thier familys so they returned home. Thats when things got truly difficult. Even though she pledged to stay off drugs (and to stop pushing them), the kids at school outcasted her, in rage after loosing thier supplier. She did make an effort to get past that and make new friends. That's where her grandfather died, and soon after, her grandmother passed away too.
One day, as she was babysitting, she ate some peanuts sitting on a table. She started screaming and freaking out. Someone heard, and for the safty of the baby, locked the girl in the closet where she started clawing at her face and rammingnher head into the door and tried to get out. She got beat pretty badly. All because of some acid covered peanuts. She was eventually placed in a mental ward. She got out just around her 17th birthday. On that day, she decided to stop writting in her diary because she believed the toughest part of her life was over. She thought she could stay clean and life would be good. She died due to a drug overdose 3 weeks later.

In the current novel your reading are their any gender stereotypes or symbols you have picked up on . Please explain.
There really are no gender stereotypes or symbols thought this novel.

What if ALL the characters in your current novel were male? Please explain how that would affect the novel .
If ALL of the charachters were male in this book, then i dont think Chris and the main charachter would have been so surprised that thier boyfriends were cheating on them...with eachother. I think they were more shocked that they were gay than the fact they were being cheated on. In all seriousness, her point of view would have changed on almost everything.

What if ALL the characters in your current novel were female? Please explain how that would affect the novel.
I dont think anything would have really changed except that the main character wouldn't have talked so much about boys. Her perspective would have remained the same because she was a girl.

Please provide the definition of SYMBOLISM in your own words.
